My name is Isaac and I am a member of EICC. I was born and raised in Ghana where I lived with my mother as my father died when I was young. Although my mother raised me as a Christian, growing up I became less committed in my relationship with Christ in my youth and found myself being drawn to the street life. As time went on I began to smoke weed, drink and womanise. I became very addicted to smoking weed and in fact I smoked nearly everyday and taught others how to start. I was quite popular in my community and eventually ran a small drinking spot in my local area with hopes of making a good profit. This was not to be as my friends and I would sit and drink and they often didn't pay. The stresses and pressures of my financial situation coupled with my many relationships became a heavy burden. I was in a lot if debt and by this time I had also fathered two children. I was overwhelmed and tried to smoke and drink the pain away but it never left. I decided I needed a change -so I planned to leave Ghana and seek greener pastures. I upped and left for Ivory Coast to hustle without telling my mother. Life was tough there. I was homeless, didn't speak French and knew no one. After a while I decided the best solution was to proceed north and attempt to get to Europe via stowaway. All this while my family didn't know where I was. One day I felt the urge to put my Ghana sim card in my phone (which I hadn't done for months). Incredibly a call came through from my aunty in the UK - and she warned me to never attempt stowaway as it wouldn't end well for me. She told me there was a bible based church in Ghana in Sakumono, Accra and that I should go there and the pastor would teach me the Word and my life would change. I packed my things and left Ivory Coast. As I arrived in Ghana I went straight to EICC. Before the main church was even built a few of us used to gather every morning for morning devotion, singing, praying and reading the word. Almost immediately I stopped smoking and little by little I became a changed man. I am now a responsible father and happily married.
